(And trainspotters and tramspotters and busspotters and shipspotters and presumably all-sorts-of-other-things-spotters.) But as far as I can tell, only the British turn it into a family day out. At German airports, the favoured spots along the perimeter fence are crowded exclusively by men and their binoculars. If you know where to look, you can often see them there as your plane hurtles off into the sky... To be fair, there are planespotters in Germany, too.
